Greeting Commander! State your name, and where you came from!

Hi, I’m John Robinson and I have been playing on and off since the late 80s, whenever it was that Space Hulk came out. Got really into Space Marine (Epic) and played that for a long time. Then 40k, etc etc. Also tried some of the other games out there, Relic Knights, Infinity and Hordes, but always seem to come back to GW in some way or another. The only one that I really enjoyed and still do enjoy is Super Dungeon Explore from Ninja Division. Haven’t really done anything in the past few years though, partly due to being a father and partly due to not really liking where Games Workshop was heading. Had few health issues over Christmas and had to take a month off work, thought I would pick up something to paint and was really impressed with what GW is doing now. I looked around the store and honestly thought they had some of the best models on the market. Been spending a little too much since.

I too spend too much coin when the tankerds are full. It is a curse of the Soldier's Life. What force do you currently command?

I was doing a Red Scorpions force and a Death Guard force, seemed to make sense as both came in the starter boxes for 40K. However, after being gifted a Knight from my brother I have dropped them both in favour of a small Inquisition / Planetary Defence Force.

Ah, Good Man! This is what I like to hear! A good, god-fearing battle ready army of loyalist, mutant hunting men. Tell me of it's backstory! Have you recorded such a thing?

I have ^.^ Well kinda bits and pieces, It’s a rich world that provides the Emperor with a supply of Psykers. Due to certain conditions on the planet the population give birth to twins almost every pregnancy, and one of the twins is almost always a Psyker. As result of this the planet (Avairia) is pretty much left alone as long as they keep up with the demand, however, disturbances have started to arise, people hiding their pregnancies in fear, Rogue Psychers popping up etc etc. To this end Inquisitor Feff has been dispatched in order to investigate. Feff is originally from Avairia and is the nephew of the current ruler of the planet, as such his knowledge of the planet, its inhabitants and customs is invaluable. The planet itself has a native population of Beastmen or Gryphon-Kin as they are called. These Eagle headed humanoids have been utilised throughout the planet and also make up small ranks in the PDF and a have single a seat on the council. Almost all Avairia’s fawner seem to be evolved from Flightless Birds, dozens of species all bearing the head and talons of an eagle. The Large Gryph-Riders are used throughout the PDF as Rough Riders and the small agile Gryph-Hounds are put to work in small seeker parties. Larger beasts are used by the Gryphon-Kin as small mobile weapons platforms bearing their larger bolt throwers. There is a ton more that’s bouncing around in my head, hopefully I will find the time to get it all written out and posted on my blog, but… you know, life….

Bird...people.....and....witches.... This is sounding more heretical as it goes along. What is the centrepeice of your slightly more suspicious sounding war-mongers?

Honestly I love the whole of my army at the moment, there isn’t a single mini that I have thought ugh when building. So far everything that I have, and have planned is a custom and as such I think they all stand out. Some are simple parts swaps, but my Inquisitor and his Retinue is quite custom heavy. If I have to pick one person or squad though, it would be him and his minions ^.^

An Inquisitor would keep such filth-encrusted muntants in line... I do wonder about where your loyalties lie commander...However, who has shown themselves to be the true hero of your force?

I’ve not played with this force yet, so I’m going to say… Simon

You have not taken your somewhat heretical monsters to war yet? Building a power base are we? I shall just wave down the guard whilst I ask you... What would be your dream army?

My Dream Army, erm, I would love to put some of the ideas I have in my head to use and actually build a Slaanesh force. There is a lot I would like to do and explore with them. It’s just that I don’t like the models, lol. So again, it would be a very custom heavy force.

That confirms the sheer amount of heretical blood that runs in thy veins. As you are taken away for Grand Anti-Sigmar Thinking, what advice would you give fellow builders of armies?

I’m really into modding my miniatures, I love customising and have been doing it from the off set. Even something as easy as a simple head swap can really define the kind of army you’re going for. Remember, this is your army or force or flying cucumber attack ship, the only limits are your imagination. And with a universe as vast as 40K who’s to say what’s wrong and right. Enjoy yourself, that’s what a hobby is about.
