Inspecting The Troops - Stuart Murray
Greeting Commander! Tell us about your ideals in the ways of war!
I'm Stuart, I'm originally from England but I live in America now.
I've been playing various wargames for around 22 years. I've stepped away from GW stuff but I always seem to keep coming back to 40K.
Nothing wrong with taking a break when the wars are slow. I can imagine that such a man would be a proud follow of Sigmar, and would be a lord of purity! Tell me, what holy army do you lead?
Chaos Marines.
Ah.
I always come back to Chaos Marines. I'll take a break, go play something else and then back to Chaos Marines.
So far I've done five different Legions with Death Guard being my lastest (and current) army.
I've really enjoyed painting and playing with the Death Guard, it's been a nice change having a small, tough army and a nice change in painting styles. I've never really done a light colored army before and the Death Guard has come together nicely.
I''m not disapointed, just angry. What backstory have you given you army of filth and heresy?
I've not really, I've got names for the characters but that's about it really. My next project however has some background developed for it.
There may be hope for you yet then, without realising the dark road to the end, we may be able to save you from the cluthes of evil that shall take your soul. What is the centerpeice of your dark misjudgements?
Well it's got to be Mortarion for my Death Guard.
THATS ACTUALLY WORSE THAN GIVING THEM A BACKSTORY!
HES A DEAMON PRIMARCH!!
How can he not be? He's one of the biggest models I've painted (a Stompa being the biggest) and just look at him, I was amazed the wings came out as well as they did. I was convinced they were going to look awful at first, just like the model itself. at one point of painting the main body I was convinced he was going to look awful but it all just came together in the end.
I suppose there's a lesson there, finish the mini off before judging it completely.
As I set these logs and torches up for something akin to a witch burning, tell us about the most important characters in your forces.
Right now it's either my "Typhus" Tubaxus, I wanted to use Typhus' rules but I didn't want to just have Typhus so I made my own guy with the same rules basically.
He's not done much personally but he's been using his psychic powers to boost my Blightlords and they've been kicking all kinds of ass with those boosts.
OR it's my Malignant Plaguecaster. He once took out an Ork Trukk without even trying, his Psychic Fallout ability is a handy thing to have.
Yes yes, don't mind me, if you could stand here in the middle of this bonfire, thank you, Could you tell us what your dream army would be as I light this tinder?
Plastic Imperial Guard, for Praetorian Guard.
I love the look of the Praetorian Guard, every since I saw them at the Games Day display I knew I wanted them. I ended up with a decently sized Guard army comprised of mostly Praetorians.
I miss my Praetorain Guard so much. I had to sell them when I was struggling financially and I've regretted it ever since.
I've thought about doing them again but my options are eBaying them for crazy prices or buying third party figures for it which would limit any kind of "official" gaming options and be crazy expensive.
I'm holding out for the day they make either full plastic Praetorians or even just Mordians. That way I could just track down some heads for them.
Maybe one day.
So, as we warm you up a bit, I would like to thank you for gladfully bringing notice to your heresy and I thank you for that. Any last words?
I'm an older gamer who still calls things by the names he first knew them as (It's still the Imperial Guard to me dammit!) but isn't to grumpy about anything gaming wise now a days.
Oh and I love Chaos. It's great!
BURN HIM FASTER!
