Legio Damnatorium - The Leading Fire

Next I simply continued with the hellblaster squad. I didn't have a lot of bits to play with so the models weren't really converted other than getting new pauldrons and flames. However, this gave me plenty of opportunity to learn how too paint the NMM and some light reflections. I also had to do some more freehanding work so I did a banner.

Then it was time for a lieutenant and a new freehand! I knew I wanted to move on from the emperor and paint a primarch so I had to choose one that is "dead" and not Sanguinius. I decided on Dorn and to paint an imperial fist. Dorn is dead-ish but I found such a nice image of him that I couldn't withstand the possibility :)

I also wanted to do something special with his sword so I decided to make it molten metal, it had been a few weeks at this point from finishing the knight so I guess the trauma had resided :P

The model was entered into the June (I think) GW painting competition and won a runner up prize. The first thing I had won :) Yay!
